This year’s University of Burgundy conference will take place on Santorini, with the support of the Thira Municipality, the Agricultural University of Athens, the National Interprofessional Organization of Vine and Wine, the Greek Wine Federation and the Central Union of Vine and Wine Producing Cooperative Organizations of Greece. Issues to be addressed include the development of wine regions, the structure of bodies involved and the regulations governing them, the development and promotion of wine-growing traditions, new trends in viticulture practices, the benefits of enotourism, the advances in scientific and technical fields towards the best utilization of wine regions as well as new strategies for the promotion and marketing of wine products. The organizers invite the submissions of abstracts from interested parties. For further information, press here. The official languages of the conference are spoken Greek, French and English. Besides the conference events, participants will also be taken on a tour of Santorini’s vineyards, explore grapevine varieties cultivated in the island’s rocky volcanic soils and learn more about Santorini’s 3,500-year-old winemaking practices.
