One of the country’s leading wineries, Boutari, joins winemakers across Greece, when they open their cellars to visitors during this year’s “Open Doors” events on May 9-10. Boutari invites lovers of the vine, foodies and experts to join them in a series of special events, including tastings and guided tours with wine in the spotlight. Boutari’s wines of old crop varieties. The Open Doors initiative is part of the Wine Roads program which involves winemakers and members of the country’s enotourism tourism networks. As part of its efforts to share its experience and knowhow with the consumer, Boutari Winery has decided for the first time this year to offer visitors the chance to sample wines of old crop varieties. Wine lovers visiting Boutari’s Naoussa, Santorini and Crete wineries will have the opportunity to taste vintage varieties sealed in bottles for up to 20 years. The Boutari Winery has always invested in preserving cellar wines as part of its efforts to study grape variety, vintage, viticultural practices, region and production, and to optimize its knowhow through experimentation, while being able to offer aged varieties to consumers after close monitoring and assessment.
