Syntagma Square to Host 3rd Athens Street Pole Vault Event

Athens_Street_Pole_Vault_posterA number of elite pole vaulters from Europe will be at Syntagma Square in Athens on Saturday, May 9, to take part in the Athens Street Pole Vault event.

In its third edition, the Athens Street Pole Vault first launched in 2013 at the Zappeion and in 2014 it moved to Flisvos Marina.

The Athens Street Pole Vault is organized by the Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS) in cooperation with the Municipality of Athens and sponsored by DHL.

Like the two past events, this year’s Athens Street Pole Vault is expected to be a unique celebration and ideal opportunity for hundreds of people get to see a high-level match.

Among the big names expected to attend the event in Athens is Greek pole vaulter Kostas Filippidis, a world champion having come first at the 2014 IAAF World Indoor Championship last year in Sopot, Poland.

The event will also welcome Polish pole vaulter Piotr Lisek, best known for winning the bronze medal at the 2015 European Indoor Championships. Among his personal bests in the pole vault is the 5.52 outdoors at last year’s event at Flisvos Marina.

The 3rd Athens Street Pole Vault will take place at Syntagma Square at 12:30 noon.
