Messinia_Gastronomy_Seminar_2015_1For the third year in a row, the “Captain Vassilis” Foundation and the Messinian Chamber of Commerce and Industry have announced free educational gastronomy seminars for food service professionals in Messinia.

The seminars will take place in Navarino Dunes at Costa Navarino on May 20-22 and aim to promote Messinian cuisine and support local products.

Messinia_Gastronomy_Seminar_2015The three-day seminar will give some 150 food service professionals the opportunity to receive practical instructions, invaluable tips and suggestions from distinguished chefs such as Dimitris Melemenis (Costa Navarino), Lefteris Lazarou (Varoulko Seaside) and Giorgos Papaioannou (Armyra, Navarino Dunes and Papaioannou in Piraeus). The three distinguished chefs will cook alongside the participants and present local dishes while giving practical advice.

Also, IEK ORIZON’s culinary specialists Paris Kostopoulos and Konstantinos Venichakis will offer practical advice on the best way to use Messinian products.

Participants will be divided into six groups, and each seminar will last 3 ½ hours per group and include theory, practice and food tasting.

It is noted that the seminars are open exclusively to professional cooks, chefs and restaurant/hotel owners. At the end of the seminars all participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

Registration is required to participate in the seminars and acceptance is on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline to register is May 15. For information, contact Georgia Paloglou from the Messinian Chamber of Commerce on tel. 27210 62218, 62200 (9am to 3pm).

The “Captain Vassilis” Foundation is a non-profit private foundation, founded in 2011 to honor Captain Vassilis Constantakopoulos.
