The “Miles+Bonus” frequent flyer program of Aegean Airlines was named “Up and Coming Program of the Year” for the region of Europe and Africa at the 2015 Freddie Awards, one of the most prestigious honors for loyalty programs in the travel industry, held recently in Atlanta, United States. The Freddie Awards, which honor both airline and hotel loyalty programs, are based entirely on votes by travelers across the world. This year, more than 10 million online votes were cast. “It is AEGEAN’s great pleasure and honor for the Miles+Bonus program to have been awarded first place in the ‘Up and Coming Program of the Year’ Freddie category. Many thanks to the Miles+Bonus members that participated in the vote”, said AEGEAN’s marketing director, Hara Dalekou. New this year, the Freddie Awards committee identified several “Up And Coming Program of the Year” candidates — programs that look to have the momentum to take the Freddie Award for Best Program home in coming years. The winner is the program with the best average score among those ranked by 2%—10% of the voters in a category (rounded up and down to the eligibility voting percentage). This new honor is included in each of the three voting regions and within both airline and hotel Program of the Year categories. “Our goal remains to constantly improve the quality of our services and always have every passenger’s satisfaction in the center of our interest”, Ms. Dalekou said. AEGEAN’s “Miles+Bonus” program was also among the four finalists in three other categories out of a total of 25 companies participating in each category. Apart from the “Up and Coming Program of the Year” category, where the “Miles+Bonus” program was awarded top place, AEGEAN was also nominated in the following categories for Europe/Africa: Best Customer Service, Best Elite Program and Program of the Year. Since 1988, the Freddie Awards have recognized achievements in the travel loyalty industry in the Americas; Europe and Africa; the Middle East and Asia/Oceania.
