Kountoura_2Greek Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura on Wednesday assured that any changes in the Value Added Tax (VAT) rate for tourism related activities would be put into effect as of October.

“Nothing will change until October”, Ms. Kountoura said while speaking on Greek Mega Channel.

When asked specifics in regards to the changes of the VAT rate after October, the alternate tourism minister said that negotiations were in progress and that no decision has been made yet.

She added that the government does not intend to make any change that will harm the economy in general and that Greece needs to be competitive against its key competitors.
