Varoufakis_FB_1Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis on Wednesday assured Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura that there will be no change in the Value Added Tax (VAT) rate for tourism related activities this season, according to an announcement of the Tourism Ministry.

“Any change to occur to the tourism package in the future will be planned out so that Greece can remain a competitive destination”, Minister Varoufakis was quoted.

Any far-fetched scenarios on the VAT issue, while negotiations continue, directly affects tourism and the image of the country, the tourism ministry’s announcement concludes.
