Destinations news Cretan Union Cup Sailing Event Brings Crete into the Spotlight by GTP editing team 25 May 2015 written by GTP editing team 25 May 2015 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 8 As part of its ongoing promotional strategy, the Region of Crete aims through the Cretan Union Cup 2015 sailing event through to May 29 to promote the island as a primary tourism destination, it was announced during a press conference last week. Jointly organized by the region of Crete, local authorities and sailing clubs, the Cretan Union Cup brings a large variety of yachts and craft to the island for the race giving international crews the opportunity to sail Cretan waters. There are seven inshore, offshore as well as short course races. Crafts will set sail from Pantanassa, travel to Sitia and conclude in Agios Nikolaos. “The Region of Crete in cooperation with the Malevizi municipality and the island’s sailing clubs supports the organization of the Cretan Union Cup by providing assistance to initiatives and events that highlight and promote culture and sport on our island,” Regional Director for Culture Costas Fasoulakis said. © Cover photo by Nikos Zagas Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
