Visitors to the cosmopolitan Greek island will have a chance through Rivellis’ solo exhibit to explore his black and white minimalist photos taken from 1999 to 2010. Recognizing the role that tourism can play in the promotion of Greece and its culture, the boutique Grace Mykonos joined forces with the Gallery Skoufa for the first solo show of Rivellis’ works and invites visitors to a specially created art space within the hotel premises to explore his eye for detail. A second parallel show of the photographer’s work will run through to June 10 at the Gallery Skoufa on Mykonos, featuring three thematic units: “Monumental” (1995-2007), the color “Joy of Life” (2012-2015) and the black- white and color “Syros Chapels” (2010-2013). Platon Rivellis was born in 1945 in Athens and now lives on the Cycladic island of Syros. He initially studied law and then later went to Paris to study political sciences. Photography won him over, however, after studies in the US. He has worked as a writer, editor, lecturer, producer and curator. Grace Hotels began operations in Greece in 2007. The group is active in shipping, aviation, real estate, hospitality and renewable energy as well as selected diversified investments. Besides its Mykonos and Santorini units, the company has expanded to China with the Grace Beijing, the Vanderbilt Grace, the Mayflower Grace (USA), Grace Cafayate (Argentina), Grace Panama (Panama), with future openings of the Grace Marrakech (Morocco), the White Barn Grace (USA), Grace St Moritz (Switzerland) and La Dolfina Grace (Argentina) and Grace Kea (Greece).
