Top priorities on the Attica Region agenda are installing nine more SEATRAC-technology ramps, upgrading the SEATRAC product and promoting the project by organizing local events at the beaches included in the program. The pioneering SEATRAC system of ramps has been designed by a team of experts at the University of Patras and is a Greek innovation registered in Europe and the US. Consisting of a mechanism comprising rails with an attached seat, the swimming aid enables people with physical disabilities to enter the water without the help of escorts. Authorities say that the Greek innovation not only provides swimming access to people with special needs but also paves the way for the development of business synergies with tourism enterprises wishing to be active in social responsibility and awareness.
