Visitors Satisfied with the ‘Filoxenia’ of Greek Hotels in May

Holidaymakers were satisfied with the Greek filoxenia (hospitality) offered by hotels in Greece last month, according to a poll of visitor satisfaction in May that was released on Friday.

Overall customer satisfaction in Greece for May 2015 was over 80 percent, according to ReviewPro’s Global Review Index (GRI) released by the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE). The data was based on 12,649 customer reviews at Greek hotels and 103,007 at rival destinations.

According to ReviewPro, holiday destinations that score above 80 percent are ranked satisfactory.

The region of Epirus in northern Greece scored the highest satisfaction figures at 89 percent, followed by the Cyclades islands at 88.6 percent.

Overall satisfaction for accommodation in Greece was higher compared to competing destinations, up by 0.24 percent, compared to 2014, while for the same period competitors saw a 1.11 percent rise.

The index for food and drink in Greece in May was up by 1.19 percent but a decrease was recorded in the indicators of value for money, location and service. Meanwhile, the indicator for value for money of competing destinations saw a 0.99 percent increase.

ReviewPro’s index showed that Greece’s Santorini, Mykonos, Cyclades, Crete and Halkidiki scored more than competing destinations.

In May, Athens lagged behind Istanbul and Barcelona but was ahead of Rome. On the other hand, Thessaloniki was the only region to score below 80 percent in the quality index and lagged behind Bologna and Izmir.
