Greek Alternate Minister Elena Kountoura applauded the upcoming launch of direct charter flights between Seoul and Athens by Hanjin, parent company to Korean Air, during her recent visit in South Korea.

The Seoul-Athens direct charter flights will run from July until September.

In a meeting with the leadership of Korean Air, Ms. Kountoura underlined that the future launch of scheduled air flights would boost tourist arrivals from South Korea to Greece, as well as bilateral trade through cargo.

In a separate meeting with leading tour operators of South Korea, she requested their support to charter flights between Seoul and Athens.

According to Ms. Kountoura, full charter flights between Seoul and Athens will help to establish a regular air link between the two capital cities.

Danae Airlines is the general sales agent (GSA) of Korean Air in Greece.

The alternate tourism minister’s meetings took place on the sidelines of her visit to Seoul last week to promote Greece as a destination for travellers from South Korea. Her visit was also in conjunction with Greece’s participation in the Korea World Travel Fair (KOTFA), the largest international travel fair in Korea where 60 countries participated to promote their tourism resources and cultures.
