Kountoura_Consumers OmbudsmanA protocol of cooperation to maximize the protection of the interests of Greek and foreign consumers in Greece was signed on Wednesday between Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura and the public independent authority Hellenic Consumers Ombudsman and the European Consumer Center of Greece (ECC-Greece).

The protocol aims to strengthen the confidence of consumers/tourists in the tourism market of Greece.

Both sides agreed to a series of joint actions that include providing consumers with trustworthy information about their rights in the country’s tourism sector and rewarding suppliers that implement good business practices.

The Tourism Ministry and the Hellenic Consumers Ombudsman will cooperate and exchange information to intervene in order to facilitate the solving of consumer disputes in a friendly manner.

The signing of the protocol is said to be an innovative, pan-European initiative that will help create a reliable mechanism to protect the rights of the consumers/visitors of Greece.
