The Greek government has announced a “bank holiday” in effect through to Monday, July 6, in efforts to put a damper on cash being transferred abroad and prevent banks from collapsing. “The Greek economy is in a state of suffocation and an immediate solution within Europe and the Euro must by found at all costs”, the social partners said in a joint letter sent to the PM on Monday. The letter is signed by Theodoros Fessas, President of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV); George Kavathas, President of the Hellenic Confederation of Professionals, Craftsmen & Merchants (GSEVEE); Vassilis Korkidis, President of the National Confederation of Hellenic Commerce (ESEE); Andreas Andreadis, President of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE); and Constantine Michalos, President of the Central Union of Greek Chambers of Commerce (KEEE).
