The announcement came after the Greek government launched a “bank holiday” in effect through to Monday, July 6 — one day after a July 5 referendum. The decision concerns the metro, electric railway, buses and trolleys, but not the suburban railway and does not apply to any other cities in Greece where means of transport are run by private companies.
