The meeting was to focus on the recent developments in Greece. Earlier on Monday, the presidents of Greece’s Social Partners (employers and trade union associations) requested an urgent meeting with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to present their positions and proposals on the recent developments in the country. The meeting was scheduled to take place on Tuesday, June 30, at the Maximos Mansion at 11am. However, on Monday night, the Prime Minister’s press office issued the following statement: “The meeting scheduled for tomorrow between Alexis Tsipras and the presidents of the Social Partners is postponed due to prior commitments of the Prime Minister. An update to reschedule the meeting will follow.” “The Greek economy is in a state of suffocation and an immediate solution within Europe and the Euro must by found at all costs”, the social partners had said in a joint letter sent to the PM signed by Theodoros Fessas, President of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV); George Kavathas, President of the Hellenic Confederation of Professionals, Craftsmen & Merchants (GSEVEE); Vassilis Korkidis, President of the National Confederation of Hellenic Commerce (ESEE); Andreas Andreadis, President of the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE); and Constantine Michalos, President of the Central Union of Greek Chambers of Commerce (KEEE).
