Travel Operators Travel Agents: No Mass Cancellations in Greek Tourism Sector by GTP editing team 2 July 2015 written by GTP editing team 2 July 2015 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 8 The Hellenic Association of Travel & Tourist Agencies (HATTA) on Thursday called for restraint and unity in the Greek tourism sector and assured that there have not been any mass tourism cancellations to Greece so far. In an announcement, HATTA noted that some cancellations have rolled in but not to a point where they could drastically affect overall tourism figures. “Due to the situation, booking numbers have come to a halt but this has also occurred in the past during a periodic crisis and usually recovers afterwards”, the association underlined. HATTA said that it is in constant contact with all tour operator and travel agency associations in Europe and third countries, assuring them that their customers holidays in Greece have not been disrupted. HATTA, so far, has received only positive feedback. In regards to Greece’s outbound and domestic tourism, which has been severely hit in recent years, HATTA informed that postponements as well as cancellations have occurred due to the lack of liquidity in the country. The association underlined that any statements made under panic do not contribute positively to Greek tourism in any way. “Greece is Europe, stays in Europe and is the most popular and attractive tourism destination. This fact is indisputable and must not enter into discussions”, HATTA stressed. Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
