The decision concerns the metro, electric railway, tram, buses and trolleys, but not the suburban railway and does not apply to any other cities in Greece where means of transport are run by private companies. Transport in Athens has been free since June 29 once the Greek government launched a “bank holiday”, which was expected to end on Monday, but has been extended by at least two days (until Wednesday night).
