We will all be there.” – Vassilis Tzoumakas, The North Face Zagori Mountain Running creator and technical manager Athletes from all over the world will meet up at the Epirus region, northwestern Greece, to take part in the fifth edition of the The North Face Zagori Mountain Running 2015 event scheduled for July 24-26. The sports tourism award-winning event, which takes place through the Tymfi and Zagori trails, will be attended by professional and amateur runners, mountain lovers, children and parents, as well as fans of this renowned mountain sport. According to organizers The North Face, 2,200 people from Greece and abroad — from countries including USA, Australia, Argentina, England, Germany, Israel, Italy, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, Poland and Albania — have registered to take part in the event. “This proves that The North Face Zagori Mountain Running, dominates the mountain running races”, said Vassilis Tzoumakas, the event’s creator and technical manager. Half Marathon 21km: Half Marathon on the mountain complex of Timfi. Entry Race 10km. An entry race to mountain running in Zagori. The start and finish of the 80km route will take place at Tsepelovo on Saturday, July 25. On the same day, the 42km route will start at Kipoi, Zagori, and finish at Tsepelovo. On Sunday, July 26, the action will take place once again at Kipoi, Zagori, for the 21km and 10km races. The organizers aim this year to raise the environmental awareness of athletes through an innovative action called the “ecological footprint”. The action prohibits the disposal of any objects (such as water bottles) along the trails while running. For further information and details about the routes, press here.
