online_bookingsAir and ferry bookings to Greece for the months of July and August are gradually recovering, according to data released on Thursday by Greek online ticket agent Travelplanet24.

“We are noticing that ticket bookings for the rest of the summer are gradually recovering, while record sales of air and ferry tickets were recorded on Monday, July 21, as we had more than 800 reservations for Greece within the day”, said Philip Brinkman, Co-Founder & CEO of Travelplanet24.

According to the data, traffic to Greece from European airports remains stable for the months of July and August, with London having the most departures for Greece. The list of the five international airports with the largest flow of tourists to Greece include those in Larnaca, Istanbul, Paris and Prague. The average ticket price from international destinations to Greece amounts to 286 euros.

Travelplanet24 also pointed out that most airline tickets booked for Greece through a mobile device (phone or tablet) are mainly from travellers in Central Europe, with the markets of Germany, England and France leading the way.

More into the data, the Greek destinations with the most arrivals from international airports include Athens, where the average price of an air ticket is around 298 euros, Thessaloniki (239 euros), Heraklion in Crete (261 euros), Mykonos (209 euros), Rhodes and Corfu (272 Euros), Santorini (286 euros), Chania in Crete (265 euros), Samos (279 euros) and Zakynthos (316 euros).

The data refers to tickets booked from January 1 until July 27 from all of the company’s websites (Tripsta), for travel during the July 1-August 31 period.
