According to SETE Intelligence, international arrivals by air to Greece in 2014 rose by 17 percent or 2,049,830 to a total of 13,929,193, compared to 2013. Regional airports welcomed 11,360,618 travelers in 2014, recording an 11 percent rise against 2013, according to the Civil Aviation Authority. In the meantime, world travel monitor IPK International reveals that the total number of Greeks traveling by plane to destinations abroad came to 2,377,000 in 2013 and 2,356,000 in 2014, while Athens International Airport (AIA) findings indicate a total of 1,534,753 Greeks traveled abroad in 2014 against 1,445,844 in 2013. Tourists who opted to visit Greece via road came to 9,103,546 in 2014 against 6,237,067 in 2013, an increase primarily due to the operation of new border stations. Meanwhile, arrivals via sea in 2014 rose by 1 percent to 1,449,891, with 55.7 percent of the total traffic for 2014 recorded between June and September.
