Photo source: Amadeus ACUS is a next-generation common use solution, which enables passenger processing systems to be accessed and deployed anywhere on demand, both in and outside the terminal. According to Amadeus, the solution will offer cost-effective, customised and flexible passenger processing to Avinor’s airports nationwide. ACUS can be used from a PC, laptop or mobile device making it especially useful to process passengers during disruptions. In addition, airports and airlines will see reduced service costs and significant savings on the Wide Area Network (WAN) connections, a geographically dispersed communication network. This technology also significantly reduces the time and cost associated with the deployment of applications for the entire air transport community. As a result of infrastructure and hardware reduction, Amadeus’ environmentally-friendly platform is expected to help Avinor airports reduce their total CO2 emissions by 5,000 tons annually. “The Avinor Group’s adoption of ACUS shows that technology in the aviation industry is moving towards a model that encourages innovation and flexibility”, John Jarrell, Head of Airport IT, Amadeus, said. Initially, the system will be introduced to eight airports in Norway and lead up to Avinor’s entire airport network with over 50 million travellers. “Thanks to ACUS’ agility, Avinor’s airports will be better prepared to manage increasing passenger volumes that will ultimately benefit the traveller as well.” The agreement follows the implementation of ACUS at Innsbruck Airport earlier this year.
