Event News Mission Accomplished for Creta Maris Green Team by GTP editing team 29 July 2015 written by GTP editing team 29 July 2015 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 19 Striving to raise environmental awareness and encourage locals and visitors to protect Crete’s diverse natural resources, the Creta Maris Beach Resort in Hersonissos, Crete, added one more “green” activity to a series of ongoing efforts. On July 24, a group of volunteers from the hotel that included visitors and locals joined forces to de-weed and clean the shore and the surrounding areas of rubbish. Known as the Creta Maris Green Team, each year the hotel organizes environmental activities with the support of volunteers who participate in everything from tree planting to whitewashing. The team supports the efforts of the Region of Crete, the Heraklion Prefecture and the Heraklion municipalities. The hotel celebrated one more distinction earlier this summer when it was singled out for water quality, safety and environmental management, receiving the coveted Blue Flag beach certification. The Creta Maris Beach Resort, part of the Metaxas Group, has operated since 1975 with a capacity of 680 rooms, suites and bungalows, six restaurants, seven bars, seven swimming pools, a gym, spa, children’s facilities, conference hall, and a great space for outdoor and indoor activities. Besides a series of “firsts” including being the first hotel in Greece in 1995 to obtain the ISO 9001 International Quality Certificate, the Creta Maris is also among the few enterprises in the country to accommodate golfers with one of the largest golf courses in Greece.
