Culture Samos Young Artists Fest Brings Cultures Closer by GTP editing team 6 August 2015 written by GTP editing team 6 August 2015 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 6 In its sixth year, the Samos Young Artists Festival brings international performers to the Eastern Aegean, with concerts and events kicking off on Friday, at the island’s Ancient Pythagorion Theater. Aptly titled “Around the World in 7 Days”, the series of concerts features everything from fusion and world music to opera and jazz, and will run through to August 13, bringing together young artists from across the globe. Up-and-coming instrumentalists, musicians, singers and bands from Russia, Romania, Turkey, Germany, Greece, Austria and South Korea, will join forces to transport visitors and locals of Samos, via their music. Located at a crossroads of cultures between the East and the West, Samos is the ideal meeting point for a musical event that, organizers say, aims to “bridge” differences via the universal language of music. This year’s creative director is lead violinist of Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, soloist and chamber musician Daniel Nodel. Among the acts taking the stage are Russians Terem Quartet playing a melange of traditional Russian music with a touch of world song, South Korean violinist Ye-Eun Choi, who joins Germany’s Silke Avenhaus in classic works by Isang Yun, Brahms, Schnittke και Wieniawsky, Azerbaijani jazzman David Gazarov, Austrian baritone Mathias Hausmann and Greek mezzo-soprano Stella Doufexis in operatic works. Concerts start after 8pm. Follow GTP Headlines on Google News to keep up to date with all the latest on tourism and travel in Greece.
