Thirty people including experts, innovators and adventurous travel professionals from 15 countries gathered in Greece last month to exchange thoughts, learn and work on project ideas to promote the island of Ios — not only as a party destination — and explore the destination’s sustainable future.

Ios-workshopsThe Travel Massive Island Unconference event was held on July 18-26 by Travel Massive, the world’s largest community of travel industry insiders.

The unconference focused on three key themes: video and creative content, sustainability and local tours.

During the week of the unconference, several unpanels were hosted during which self-nominated experts talked about their areas of interests, including traveler’s life cycle, distribution channels, guests’ experience, sustainable tourism, videos, the benefits of YouTube and even SnapChat.

Projects

“We spent an amazing week, full of discoveries, new ideas, meaningful conversations, brainstorming, live blogging, sharing and connecting in true Travel Massive style on Greece’s most beautiful island”, Travel Massive posted on its blog when the unconference was wrapping up.

The Luxurios Storytelling Project

LuxuriosIslandExperienceThe Travel Massive Island Unconference was the highlight of The Luxurios Storytelling Project, which saw digital story tellers from around the world presenting various parts of Ios for the whole month of July.

The Luxurios Storytelling Project was launched by LuxurIOS Island Experience, a local brand that aims to show a different part of the island away from its famous party scene.

#LifeOnIos

iosA big part of The Luxurios Storytelling Project was #LifeOnIos, a creative social media campaign launched to show the other — quieter — side of the party island. The campaign was jointly organized by LuxurIOS Island Experience, Travel Concept Solution and the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO).

During the whole month of July, on a weekly rotation, leading new media influencers from Europe, Brazil and the US sampled the island’s hospitality, participated in special events, swam the island’s crystal waters, tasted local delicacies and presented it all to the world through their videos.
