If you’re on Crete this weekend, get ready for a real treat: a traditional Cretan wedding!

The village of Kritsa, near Agios Nikolaos, will stage a traditional Cretan wedding replete with songs, dancing and Cretan food on Sunday, August 16.

PrintThe event will begin at 4pm with a procession through the town, the groom led by the Dimitris Sgouros folk band.

The traditional Cretan wedding, organized by the Cultural Association of Kritsa “Lato”,  is among the special events organized on the island to present the older Cretan customs to visitors as well as to young Cretans.

According to the organizer, the revival of such cultural events with the participation of the locals of Kritsa and particularly the youth, enrich tradition but mainly promote the joint effort, offering, solidarity, volunteering and hosting of the Cretan villages.

The event is supported by the Region of Crete and the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos.
