Destinations news Google Trekker Captures the Action at Crete’s Hersonissos by GTP editing team 21 August 2015 written by GTP editing team 21 August 2015 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 5 Google Trekker has made its way to Crete’s Hersonissos Municipality, recording via backpack-mounted camera images from isolated or far-off locales in order to provide potential travelers with the insight to get them coming. Hersonissos is the first municipality in Greece, to be mapped out by Google Trekker, which in the next two months will attempt to capture some of the region’s most remote locales, including far-off footpaths, unspoiled beaches and secluded villages. Many locations have been shot from boats. The series of images will then be stitched together to appear in Google Maps. The Hersonissos Municipality hopes that thanks to Google Maps’ high engagement, it will stimulate visitors to visit Crete for the real experience.
