Volos Meet Explores Urban Planning, Regional Development

Urban planning and regional development will be the focus of a conference on September 24-27, to be held at the University of Thessaly premises in the city of Volos in Greece.

Organized by the university’s Department of Planning and Regional Development, the 4th National Conference on Urban Planning and Regional Development will focus on issues and challenges in the field and will include panel discussions with experts who will share their scientific insight on urban planning in Greece and abroad, as well as on sustainable development and environmental management.

Areas to be covered include the new institutional framework for spatial planning and environment; the impact of the crisis on urban planning; site marketing and branding; leisure time (tourism, culture, sports, entertainment); sound design, city and cinema; climate change and action; protection of ecosystems and biodiversity; transport and sustainable mobility; housing policy; property management; innovation and entrepreneurship; investment; open data; urban regeneration; quality of life; social problems and spatial development; demographic developments; and primary sector and sustainable nutrition design.

The four-day event will also include special sessions for young scientists and a student documentary competition titled: “Audiovisual Representations of the City and its Architecture”.
