Organized by local group the Poets Circle in collaboration with the Athens Municipality, the Megaron Mousikis and the Benaki Museum, and with the support of Attica cultural institutions and municipalities, the seven-day multi-lingual event will also feature some of the country’s most acclaimed poets, including among others Nanos Valaoritis, Kiki Dimoula and Titos Patrikios. Poetry events will be taking place city-wide: everywhere from the Acropolis Museum and central squares to bookshops and cafes, and will include readings, workshops, music and visual arts activities and panel discussions. The festival kicked off in the Megaron Mousikis Garden on September 21 and will come to a close in the Dimitris Mitropoulos Hall on September 26 at 7.30pm. Founded some four years ago, the Poets Circle aims to bring Greece back into the international spotlight as a land of poets past and present with initiatives, activities and an online presence.
