‘Visit Meteora’ to Give Travel Bloggers Grand Tour of Three Major Attractions in Greece

Aiming to show the world that Greece is a country packed with very special mysteries, history and natural sights that must be seen to be believed, leading destination management company Visit Meteora on Tuesday announced that it is organizing a special seven-day media trip in October to get the word out on the amazing sites that mainland Greece has to offer.

Visit_Meteora_5On October 20 a group of talented travel writers, bloggers and filmmakers will join tour guides and visit three major Greek tourist attractions: Athens, Meteora and Mount Olympus. The trip will end on October 28.

“We couldn’t be more excited about this 7-day adventure than we already are”, said a spokesperson from Visit Meteora. “We are passionate about Meteora and the other sights we’ll be taking this wonderful team. We really hope the experience inspires them to write some great articles, reviews, take amazing photos and film, and otherwise help show the world what we have to offer here.”

Acropolis of AthensThe media trip will focus on outdoor edutainment opportunities and sustainable tourism. Some of the diverse activities will include exploring exciting hiking trails with breathtaking views and sampling Greek cuisine; seeing up close natural Greek wonders and UNESCO world heritage sites such as the Acropolis, Meteora and Mount Olympus; visiting immaculate settings in their natural glory; and experiencing cultural excursions that reveal remarkable aspects of Greek history and tradition.

The list of media professionals that will participate in the trip includes representatives from the Matador Network, the leading millennial adventure website which receives over 18 million unique visitors a month; Dave and Deb from the Planet D, named 2014 Lowell Thomas Gold Medal Winners for Best Travel Blog; Sam and Audrey, two of the leaders in travel advice and inspiration through their two very popular blogs and YouTube channels; Laurel from BBC travel as their #BBCLocalite for Munich and as social media influencer for BBC Earth; and Mo Williamson, a content creator for some of the biggest names in media, like Conde Nast International, Social Media Today, CNN, and Mode Media.

Major sponsors of the media trip include the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), the Region of Thessaly, the Municipality of Kalambaka, the Hellenic Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (HATTA), the Meteora Hotel Association and the Association of Meteora Tourism Enterprises (STEM).

The event’s platinum sponsor is Divani hotels that will offer high quality complimentary accommodation at Divani Caravel and Divani Meteora. AVIS will offer transportation and Athens Walking Tours will offer tours in Athens.
