greek_tavern_foodThe European Travel Commission (ETC) will present Europe’s official portal of food and gastronomy tourism “TastingEurope.com” during the Food Tourism Week to be held at the Milan EXPO on September 28-30.

TastingEurope.com is dedicated to the European eating experience complete with information on everything from Europe-wide fairs and festivals to foodie routes and quality labels.

Eating trends of holidaymakers to Europe

Earlier this year, at the 1st UNWTO World Forum on Food Tourism held in San Sebastián, Spain, the ETC presented the current profile of the foodie traveller visiting Europe from different overseas source markets.

According to ETC research, North American tourists interested in culture and history are also keen on sampling traditional cuisine.

Canadians and Americans, meanwhile, focus on quality but also on the wines and beers of Europe. Food and eating experiences are the top priority for Brazilian travelers, while Russian tourists love to attend gastronomy festivals and open markets and are open to trying out local specialties. The Chinese, on the other hand, prefer their own cuisine in the destinations they visit.

The European Food Tourism Week is organised by the European Commission in conjunction with EXPO Milan 2015
