VoloteaVolotea on Tuesday announced that it will launch flights connecting the Greek capital to Mykonos and Mytilini (Lesvos) next summer, bringing the routes it serves from Athens International Airport (AIA) to six.

The two new routes in Greece will be added to the airline’s existing routes from Athens to Bari, Santorini, Palermo and Venice.

Flights from Athens to both Mykonos and Mytilini will operate as of May 27, 2016, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Volotea, a Spanish short and medium haul airline linking small and medium sized cities, has been flying in Greece since 2012 and has already transferred 253,811 passengers to and from Greece, serving 27 routes in the country.

According to an announcement, the company expects the new routes in Greece to bring growth of 75 percent in 2016. The overall seating capacity will be around 100,000.

The flights to both Mykonos and Mytilini are already on sale for travel in summer 2016. Ticket sales for summer routes from Athens to Bari, Santorini, Palermo and Venice will open on October 1.
