Pull up your socks and take your four legged friend for a run… and all this for a good cause during the 2nd “Run With Your Dog” event to be held at the Pikioni Park in Filothei, on occasion of World Animal Day, Sunday, October 4.

run_dog_3Organized by Purina Friskies, with the support of the Filothei-Psychico municipality, “Run With Your Dog” invites animal lovers to back the Hellenic Animal Welfare Society (Filozoiki) by participating in the 2km run with their furry friends.

This year, mom, dad, pets and kids can participate in the new “family run”. Winners will receive a year’s worth of Friskies dog food, with runners-up getting six and three months worth of free food. All participants will be awarded commemorative certificates.

For every “Run With Your Dog” entry, Friskies will donate four kilos of food to the Hellenic Animal Welfare Society for the needs of the stray dogs under its care.

The Hellenic Animal Welfare Society will be on hand at a kiosk to provide information, insight and advice on its activities and on relevant issues including vaccinations, first aid, nutrition, training and obedience.

The event starts at 9am and runs through to 3pm. Parallel happenings include contests with gifts. For more information and registration, press here.

The Hellenic Animal Welfare Society was founded in 1975 and has since worked towards the humane treatment of abandoned animals in Greece.
