Photo © Maria Theofanopoulou The possibility of developing Ios into an attractive destination for school tourism for students from Slovakia was explored in late September by the island’s municipality. Photo source: MTC Group Discussions took place on the island during a familiarization trip held for a group of 44 travel and tourism professors from Slovakia during September 26-18. The event, which followed an earlier fam trip of selected journalists and tour operators from Slovakia, was organized by the Municipality of Ios in cooperation with MTC GROUP to promote Ios to new markets abroad. During their stay on the island, the professors were introduced to destination Ios and its local products. The group was accompanied by renowned journalists who recorded experiences and impressions. “In the framework of the group’s visit we explored the possibility of a new cooperation in regards to school tourism with the support of the municipality,” said the chairman of the island’s tourism board, Angela Fakou.
