Athens_Run_2015Organizers are hoping more than 30,000 participants take part in this year’s Athens Run, this Sunday, in order to collect money for a good cause.

Organized by the Athens Cultural, Sport & Youth Organization (OPANDA), the 29th Athens Run kicks off at 9am at the Panathenian Stadium and organizers are hoping to gather 30,000 euros, which will go towards the purchase of an EEG for the Agia Sophia Children’s Hospital. The monitoring system assists in the early prevention and treatment of epilepsy in children.

By collecting a single euro from every runner, organizers hope to reach the sum and at the same time raise awareness about epilepsy.

Registration for the 10km, 5km, 3km or 1km runs can be made online here and will also take place on the day of the event at the Panathenian Stadium between 7am and 8.30am.

In the meantime, in the run-up to the sporting event, organizers will hold an awareness-raising workshop titled “Top Secret? Or Should I Share it With You – Let’s Talk About Epilepsy” on Saturday, at the City of Athens’ Cultural Center (50 Academias St, in Greek).
