SETE_Kountoura_IMG_0143_2Greek Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura said on Monday that the ministry’s main concern is to support tourism entrepreneurship.

During the opening of SETE’s 14th Tourism & Development Conference in Athens, Ms Kountoura assured tourism professionals that the ministry takes into account the ideas and proposals of tourism professionals on the problems the industry is facing.

“Through cooperation with the competent ministries, we will try to immediately give feasible solutions to issues the industry is facing such as the single property tax ENFIA, the value-added tax (VAT) increase, unfair competition, the gray economy and illegal accommodation, or poor infrastructure”, she said.

Referring to next year’s season, the alternate minister said that a further increase in arrivals to Greece is expected as leading tourism companies – providers are already engaging in a greater number of bookings.

She added that previously blocked tourism investments in Greece, of some five billion euros, are currently in the implementation phase and that the ministry expects a further rise in the interest of international investors and funds to invest in the country.

If they really cared about the young entrepreneurs then they wouldn’t have excluded companies set up after 12/2013 from the new ESPA program. What a shame because new companies need the most help!
