Official Tourism Message Polychronis-Griveas

Over the past decade, we have witnessed Tourism evolving from “a hospitality Industry” to a comprehensive sophisticated guest experience, which has opened non-traditional markets and led to superior growth rates.

Greece has adjusted well to the challenges and opportunities presented by these changes. Viewed within the context of the economic crisis in Greece, there is no doubt in my mind that the tourism sector has laid the foundation to contribute to the rebuilding of Greece’s economy, and can assume the role to become a solid driver to recovery.

It is predominantly in our own hands to capitalize on the successes of this industry in the years to come. That being said, tourism will need far more direct investments from foreign and domestic parties, as well as improvements in public infrastructure, sustainable development from the private sector in all aspects, and a comprehensive charter that clearly sets out the rules of engagement in the industry.

We need to continue to reinvent ourselves to stay abreast of the developments ongoing throughout the world, and to continue being competitive in the markets.

We have done it before, we will do it again.
