Sports Expo Kicks Off Athens Authentic Marathon Weekend

With the inauguration of the ERGO Marathon Expo 2015 on Thursday, events and activities for the 33rd “Athens Marathon. The Authentic” have kicked off.

The expo is taking place at the TaeKwonDo Indoor Hall & Exhibition Center at Palio Faliro until Saturday, November 7 and will lead to the actual “Athens Marathon. Τhe Authentic” event on Sunday, November 8.

During the press conference that followed the expo’s inauguration, the president of the Hellenic Association of Amateur Athletics (SEGAS), Kostas Panagopoulos, said that the cooperation between all parties involved has led to the event’s high upgrade in recent years.

“The factor that has made the Authentic Marathon a celebration of sports and culture is the cooperation that brings together thousands of runners, the State, the major agencies and organizations of the public sector, major private sector companies, important NGOs, regional and local government and the entire Greek society”, Mr Panagopoulos said.

“We have decided to broaden this partnership because it can bring us closer to our goal for the Authentic Marathon to become the most important global celebration of sports and culture,” he added.

According to SEGAS, between all races including the main Marathon Race, some 43,000 runners will be in the streets of Athens on the day of the “Athens Marathon. Τhe Authentic” event.

It should be noted that the Athens Authentic Marathon this year will contribute all clothing and sneakers collected for charity at the marathon’s starting point and all isothermal blankets that will be used at the marathon’s finish line to the refugee care organizations in Greece.

ERGO Marathon Expo 2015

Some 55,000 visitors are expected to attend the ERGO Marathon Expo 2015, which features top companies from the areas of sports, fitness, health, nutrition and tourism.

The marathon expo is the annual gathering of the international running community, where visitors will see products and services for runners, exclusive offers of sport brands, special packages and offers from travel agencies and hotels, technology products and fitness equipment.

Entrance to the expo is free of charge.

The Registration & Distribution Center for the runners of the “Athens Marathon. Τhe Authentic” will be also hosted in the TaeKwonDo Exhibition Center throughout the expo.

1st Day: November 5, 13.00-20.00
2nd Day: November 6, 10.00-20.00
3rd Day: November 7, 10.00-20.00 (On Saturday, the Registration Centre closes at 18.00 hours strictly)
