UK travel agents and tour operators at the World Travel Market (WTM) this week were excited to hear the news of a new luxury suites and spa hotel scheduled to open on Santorini next year by the Metaxas Group. The Santo Maris Oia will be situated in the village of Oia, right next to the famous cliffs where all visitors can enjoy the world’s most spectacular and breathtaking sunset, overlooking the Aegean Sea. WTM 2015 – Metaxas Group’s Nikos Sfakianakis, Senior Sales Manager at Maris Hotels and Manos Borboudakis, General Manager of the Santo Maris Oia. “We are very excited that we can talk about this product here at WTM… This will be a product with very high standard services and top of the art facilities”, the hotel’s general manager, Manos Borboudakis, told the Greek Travel Pages (GTP) on the sidelines of WTM 2015. Overlooking the Aegean Sea, the Santo Maris Oia comes to join the group’s Creta Maris Beach Resort and Magic Life Candia Maris, offering the finest in accommodation services and the very best in wellness facilities on one of the world’s most loved holiday destinations. The new hotel combines the Aegean and the local Cycladic architecture with luxurious, modern facilities and amenities that the destination of Santorini requires. The Santo Maris Oia resort offers 44 one or two space suites and villas, which feature private sea-view verandas with Jacuzzi and sunbeds. The hotel includes five swimming pools (one indoor) and a spa center. “The hotel’s facilities will include a restaurant that seats 120 people and offers a fantastic view of the sunset, which is the big selling point of Santorini”, Mr. Borboudakis said. The new hotel will open its doors to on April 23, 2016, until November 4 when an expansion of 15 more rooms and the addition of a conference center of 300 square meters will take place. “We aim to remain open all year around in 2018 or 2019, as we believe there is a potential to do so… Our conference center is expected to attract winter conventions while we will also focus on wedding tourism, since the hotel also has a church”, he said. The opening of the Santo Maris Oia coincides with an initiative of the Municipality of Thera and the Cycladic island’s tourism professionals to establish Santorini as an all-year-round tourism destination. The initiative is expected to launch in 2016. Wanting to give a message to the Santo Maris Oia’s future guests, Mr. Borboudakis said: “We will continue to offer the high quality services the hotels of the Metaxas Group are known to offer, in order to have the best possible result. We want our customers to come to our hotel and relax. Our goal is to offer our customers the best service they can find”. The Santo Maris Oia is located 350 meters away from the center of Oia village, 17km from Santorini International Airport and Athinios port and 11km from the capital town of Fira.
