docked_ships_strikeThe Pan-Hellenic Seamen’s Federation (PNO) has announced that it will participate in the 24-hour strike called by the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE) on Thursday, November 12.

All passenger ferries will remain docked across Greece as of midnight on Wednesday until midnight on Thursday.

PNO has warned that if the sector’s basic demands are not met, Greek seamen will further escalate their protests.

Among other claims, the Greek seamen are protesting against pension cuts, increased unemployment in the sector, uninsured labor, violation of working conditions and ongoing deterioration of social security rights and health care for active and retired seafarers and their families.
