Photo: mythicalpeloponnese.gr British Airways will launch nonstop flights between London and Kalamata next year, the Region of the Peloponnese said on Tuesday. Photo credit: Nick Morrish/British Airways According to the region, the new direct flights from London Heathrow Airport to Kalamata will begin on April 30, 2016 and operate until September 24, 2016. “We truly feel honored and satisfied for British Airways’ decision to ‘travel’ to Kalamata and the Peloponnese on a regular basis”, Peloponnese Prefect Petros Tatoulis said in an announcement. Mr Tatoulis said that he considers the airline’s decision a vote of confidence for the credibility of the Peloponnese tourism product and for the policy the region consistently follows. He added that the region aims to establish strategic alliances to achieve sustainable and balanced development in the Peloponnese and that he undoubtedly believes that British Airways may prove one of the most significant strategic alliances to serve this purpose. On her part, the commercial manager of British Airways for Greece, Cyprus and Turkey, Freddie Stier, said the airline is pleased to announce Kalamata as the newest addition to its extensive network in Greece. “We’re very proud to have a long history of over 90 years of flights between Greece and London, and we now fly to 10 Greek destinations offering UK customers a great choice of holiday hot-spots”, she said.
