In cooperation with the Skiathos municipality and consultants MTC Group, the first part of the scheme will reach out to the UK, Italian, German, Scandinavian and Austrian markets with a series of fam trips for tour operators and journalists, excursions for tour groups and airlines, participation in international travel fairs, a fashion shoot as well as inviting celebrities to join promotional projects. For the Greek market, the strategy includes the introduction of package deals for Easter and other local holidays, radio contests and online media offers for free accommodation deals, press trips, and the establishment of special theme-oriented initiatives. “Our aim is to contribute as professionals to the municipality’s efforts towards maximizing the visibility of Skiathos in established markets in order to extend the tourist season and open up to new markets interested in the island’s tourism offerings,” said Makis Koukoulakis, president of the Skiathos Hoteliers Union.
