transavia_munichAir France-KLM recently confirmed Transavia’s step to open a new European base in Munich as from March 2016.

The Group’s low-cost activity will offer its customers 18 destinations (Bari, Bologna, Brussels, Catania, Copenhagen, Dubrovnik, Eindhoven, Faro, Marrakech, Naples, Palermo, Palma de Mallorca, Paris-Orly, Pisa, Porto, Seville, Valence, Venice) on departure from Germany to Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Spain, France, Italy, Morocco, the Netherlands and Portugal.

Transavia will be the first low-cost airline to create a base in Munich.

With 4 Boeing 737-800s based in Munich, Transavia will operate over 101 weekly flights on departure from the Bavarian capital throughout the 2016 summer season.

“Transavia’s ambition is to develop its activity on departure from France and the Netherlands, but also from other European countries in order to constantly seize new growth opportunities on the European low-cost market”, an announcement said.

“It is a key pillar of the Air France-KLM Group’s strategy within the framework of the Perform 2020 plan.”

Flights on departure from Munich will mainly be operated by German crews based on site. Transavia will thus create 120 jobs in the region by integrating experienced pilots and flight attendants into its workforce.
