With “Come Meet the Greeks” as its motto, the fair, inaugurated by Alternate Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura, brought together more than 200 exhibitors from Greece’s tourism industry, including regional and municipal authorities, hoteliers, accommodation entrepreneurs, cruise companies, services, food and beverages and tour operators, who explored the potential, forged business ties and collaborations and discussed the challenges ahead. A series of parallel events was held during the 2nd Greek Tourism Expo, including a workshop on “Adapting the Promotion of the Greek Tourism Product to New Challenges” by the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) and a presentation of a new e-tourism initiative aimed to improve tourism sector growth and the visitor experience in Athens by the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels. According to the expo’s organizer Leaderexpo, more than 7,000 visitors attended the three-day event, which was supported by the tourism ministry, the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels, the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE), the Association of Cruise Ship Owners and Maritime Agencies (EEKFN) as well as tour operator TUI and travel search engine Trivago. The 3rd Greek Tourism Expo is set to be held at the Metropolitan Expo on November 25-27. The Greek Travel Pages (GTP) lent it support as main media sponsor.
