Recruitments Spyros Alexiou Appointed New President of GNTO by GTP editing team 17 December 2015 written by GTP editing team 17 December 2015 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 9 Spyros Alexiou, President, Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) Industry specialist Spyros Alexiou has been appointed as the new President of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), according to an announcement on Thursday. His appointment follows the resignation of Elissavet (Betty) Hatzinikolaou from the position recently. Mr Alexiou is a professor at the Technological Educational Institution (TEI) in Central Greece and has been teaching in higher education since 2000. He is a holder of a degree in Tourism Business Administration from TEI Athens and of a degree in Economics from the University of Athens. He received his postgraduate degree (MSc) in Tourism Management and Marketing from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. Mr Alexiou is also a PhD candidate at Panteion University. Having worked in the hospitality industry for many years, Mr Alexiou comes to the GNTO with a range of experience in the tourism market. He has previous management experience having served in leading positions as president and as head of departments. His main research interests concern local development, tourism, alternative tourism, SMEs and education. Mr Alexiou is a member of the scientific staff of the TEI Central Greece.
