Santorini was honored after being evaluated by an independent scientific committee headed by Katia Lazaridis, Professor at the Harokopio University. “I would like to thank all the residents and businesses of our island that participate in the recycling program of our municipality, thus protecting the environment of the island”, Thera Mayor Nikolaos Zorzos said while accepting the award. Among the Gold award winners in the Recycling category were Athens International Airport and the Municipality of Elefsina.
