‘Alexander the Great’ Marathon to Soar on Ellinair Wings

Travel experts Mouzenidis Group and organizers of the International “Alexander the Great” marathon announced on Wednesday, that they have joined forces ahead of the major Thessaloniki running event to be held on April 3rd.

At a joint press conference, Mouzenidis announced that its carrier, Ellinair, was now the official sponsor of the annual sporting event and that it had formed its own team of runners, including among others distinguished athletes such as Russians Rinas Akhmadeev and Vasilii Permitin, winners of the half marathon held earlier this year.

In efforts to promote the international character of the 11th “Alexander the Great” marathon between Pella and Thessaloniki, Ellinair hopes to attract even more athletes as well as travelers to the northern port city.

“Ellinair and the Mouzenidis Group will create special tourist packages aiming to establish Thessaloniki as a significant sports tourism destination,” Stavros Daliakas, Ellinair Commercial Director, said of the collaboration.

“Together with Ellinair and the Mouzenidis Group, we share our persistence, despite the trying times for our country… we continue to pull up our sleeves and get down to work for the common good… putting our all into the effort,” said Drosos Christopoulos, Director General of the marathon.

Greece-based Ellinair is part of the Mouzenidis Group of companies and offers direct flights from the airports of Thessaloniki and Corfu to Ukraine, Russia, Latvia and Turkey.

Mouzenidis Group is based in Thessaloniki and is active in real-estate, tourism, aviation and gastronomy.
