A celebration filled with music and dance will mark the start of 2016 at the Agios Pavlos and Herakleidon pedestrian walkways on Thursday, December 31. Celebrations begin at 10:30 pm with a three-fold program during which the city’s Big Band Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra and Choir will join popular artists to usher in 2016. Presenter of the night will be actor-screenwriter Giorgos Kapoutzidis. Sugahspank! & The Swing Shoes Athens Sugahspank! featuring The Swing Shoes Athens will hit the stage with the Athens Swing Cats at 10:30 pm with swing rhythms. They will be followed by a rock/swing concert of Greek singer Panos Mouzourakis at 11:05. Panos Mouzourakis At 11:45, the Municipality of Athens Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Andreas Tselikas, will perform Christmas songs and a few minutes before midnight, Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis will welcome the arrival of 2016 with a firework display in the background. Filippos Pliatsikas Right after 2016 begins, Filippos Pliatsikas will take the stage and will give a concert with all time favorites together with the Athens Symphony Orchestra.
