Company updates Greek Startup ‘Visit Meteora’ Takes Off by GTP editing team 30 December 2015 written by GTP editing team 30 December 2015 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 17 When they discovered that visitors to Meteora stayed for a single night and still didn’t know what to do, the Kourelis brothers decided it was time to do something about it. With 20 years of experience in their family-run hotel in Meteora, Central Greece, the three Kourelis brothers — Alexandros, Vaggelis and George — decided to launch Visitmeteora.Travel – a destination marketing company aiming to get the area buzzing with tourists. “We understood that the only way to bring change was to create a DMO (destination marketing organization) and at the same time to launch a variety of new travel quality products that will keep our visitors engaged for more than a day,” they recently told TrekkSoft, an online booking solutions and state-of-the-art software company. It was vital that tourists had a reason to stay longer. How? Through “Visitmeteora.Travel”. With the help of a dedicated team of six, the DMO took off providing info on everything from where to stay and play to what to eat and do. Three years on, the startup has grown into a successful tour company, promoting the wider destination, its hotels, tourist attractions, restaurants and outdoor activities. An important part of Visitmeteora.Travel’s success has been reaching out to travel bloggers and social media buffs, giving them something to write about through media trips, which the brothers organize “to introduce the world to mainland Greece as an adventure and experiential tourism destination”. The Visit Meteora team’s immediate goals include extending visitors’ stay in the region through a series of interactive activities. Read Visit Meteora team’s whole interview here.
