Prof. Dimitrios Buhalis Appointed Head of Tourism and Hospitality in Faculty of Management Bournemouth University

Professor Dimitrios Buhalis has been appointed Head of the Department of Tourism and Hospitality in the Faculty of Management Bournemouth University in the United Kingdom.

A strategic management and marketing expert with specialisation in technology and tourism, Dimitrios is also the Director of the eTourism Lab and Deputy Director of the International Centre for Tourism and Hospitality Research (ICTHR) at the Faculty of Management at Bournemouth University. He was also the President of the International Federation of Information Technology for Travel and Tourism (IFITT) for the period 2010-2014.

Dimitrios previously worked at the Universities of Surrey, Westminster and the Aegean whilst he had visiting appointments at ESSEC in France, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China, University of Aveiro, Portugal, and the Modul University in Vienna, Austria.

He is widely regarded as an expert in the impacts of ICTs in the tourism industry, the management of tourism distribution channels as well as in strategic tourism marketing and management. He has recently included accessible tourism in his research portfolio.

Dimitrios is researching, lecturing, advising and facilitating progress in organisations globally, whilst his books and over publications are studied widely by both students and professionals around the world. He is frequently delivering keynote presentations, speeches, seminars and workshops in both academic and professional conferences globally.
